I may be being unfair to indie kids everywhere here :)
Many of them seem to have a rather self-conscious extrovertsy, usually manifested as wearing markedly "uncool" clothes, dancing in an unusual manner, and so on. Kind of a whole way of being which says "look at me, I'm different, and I'm not a fashion victim!"

Which is no bad thing, of course :)
