I will fold these cranes of paper, a thousand one by one

I was just skimming quickly through Londonist, and saw a write-up of an event in Greenwich at the end of the month.

It says:

On 26 and 27 February, the Greenwich-based museum will hold a series of events and debates and workshops in a nod to Yinka Shonibare’s work. [note: Shonibare did the "ship in a bottle" currently on the 4th plinth]

As well as a debate on Trade, empire and contemporary art featuring Shonibare himself, there’s also a discussion about London’s textile culture, screenings of the 1962 film HMS Defiance, and a chance to see the artist’s original maquette.

Best of all, there’ll be a live action origami recreation of the battle of Trafalgar.

Just in case you weren't paying attention and skipped over that last sentence, I'll say it again.

There’ll be a live action origami recreation of the battle of Trafalgar.

How could anyone not want to see that?

Sadly, I shall be in Porthmadog playing with little puffer trains that weekend, but I demand that someone goes along and reports back. Preferably with pictures.

Wow. I think I may have to rearrange my plans.

That's down the road from me. I will try and make it - I love Greenwich, all things maritime, and origami, so it sounds perfect! If I manage to go, I will try and remember about photos.

Did you see that you can make your own origami boat? I think you should!

I think I should make an origami boat, too!

I don't own a printer, though, so need to figure out first how to make the textile/instructions look like work so I can use the office printer :)

It's not a boat it's, er, a concept I'm playing with for a new website layout...

It's going to turn into a dreadul mess when they send the fireships in.

(Oh, hold on, that was the Spanish Armada.)
