Late again...
Jun. 13th, 2003 01:01 amTonight was supposed to be another early night. Unfortunately, we've just had a late-breaking bout of tidying/scrubbing/vacuuming/weeding. For lo, tomorrow there will be parents visiting.
Sadly, not my parents, who take the deeply deranged view that this is our house, and therefore our mess, our problem, and our business. Instead it is Andy's parents, who will Have Opinions on the way things are done. House looks nice now, though. At least to us. I imagine it'd still fall well short of anyone with remotely house-proud standards.
Oh, and a message to pub landlords everywhere: if a main dish contains potatoes as a main ingredient, I probably don't want chips with it. My broccoli and cream cheese bake was nice, but since it came with integral spuds, I really didn't want all those chips.
Pintwatch says that the Three Horseshoes in Towersey does moderate food (see above), a very nice pint of Charlie Wells' Bombadier (no idea of price, someone else bought me it), but has a very scary barmaid. Sit outside where she can't bite you.

Date: 2003-06-13 01:10 am (UTC)I have parents like that - they're great. Dom does too (although his mother thinks the garden should be more twins-friendly - but this has more to do with her baby-interests).
One consequence of my upbringing was that I tended to have a low opinion of parents who thought that my boyfriend's mess was something to do with me (I should add I never lived with any boyfriend before

Date: 2003-06-13 02:10 am (UTC)Her theory is it's far simpler to clear up somebody else's mess, and then leave, than it is to clear up your own mess, knowing that you'll be facing the same situation again a few days later.
I ought to let them visit again, but I want to get the place reasonably tidy first.

Date: 2003-06-13 03:33 am (UTC)She had a manner of asking innocuous questions (like "chips of jacket potato?" in such a way that you understood that if you got the wrong answer she'd be after you with a broken bottle.
Sure she's lovely, really :)
