If fashion is your trade then when you're naked I guess you must be unemployed

Sartorial mistakes: wearing underwear which can be seen through your clothes.

I'm not talking about a pretty bra under a sheer top. I'm meaning white linen trousers with black pants. Or a very fine beige silk dress with black undewear. It just makes your clothes look cheap and tacky.

And while we're on, will the manufacturers of white trousers please stop making them out of fabric so thin that we can see the pocket linings and seam allowances? Never mind the pants (of whatever colour).

Oh, and to the lady on my train this morning wearing jade green opaque tights and extremely flimsy white shorts? No. That just looks weird. And the olive-green strappy heels didn't help. I don't care that you're on trend, you look barking.

Mind you, she probably thought I looked boring, or hopelessy drab, or uninspired. Each to their own. Baggy grey linen trousers and a white t-shirt over here today (with, since you ask, non-outwardly-visible white underwear).

I think for minimal visibility under white clothes you actually want *beige* underwear, as close to your own skin tone as possible. I get around the problem by rarely wearing white ;)

*nods* This is what I do. I also have a pale dove-grey bra from M&S (intentionally grey, I didn't accidentally wash it with a blue sock), which is great for under sheer/light clothing.

I think my t-shirt is sufficiently high denier to make white permissible, but I shall bear your comments in mind for future shopping trips :)

see through and hidden peaks can be very sexy, but generaly the White and black underwear is a no, the green sounds hideous, in a rotting zombie flesh or kermit the frog kind of way !

Perhaps you should, though. Inquiring minds etc...

It's all the rage for S/S 2010, I tell you (http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/trends/2010-spring-summer/100114-lingerie.aspx)!

The lingerie and cardigan look? Splendid.

Are those velcro strips down the trousers? If so they're not for me. My cat would keep getting stuck to them.

Whether they're velcro-y or not, the look is definitely a bit seaside-entertainer for my liking!

Oh no, what a pity. [grin]

Up to 20 mins ago I was wearing a white tshirt over a black bra, but in my defence I was cleaning the kitchen and the tshirt was tatty enough that I didn't mind getting Mr Muscle on it; the top I am now wearing is both posh and suitable for this bra.

Part of my sartorial ethic is that one can do what one damn well likes within the confines of one's own abode :) Doubly so if cleaning the kitchen.

I read somewhere that black bra under white shirt was THE look for this summer, and thought it was total rubbish. But then,I'm so far gone in scruff round the house that, today, I had to get changed to go to the tip.
