Let's make a movie, let's make a movie

Wanted: cheap (by which I mean free) and cheerful (by which I mean easy) way of editing MPEG movies. All I want to do is cut movies down in length and rotate them through 90 degrees.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

I can fix the second prob for you - turn your telly through 90 degrees.

Well, I ultimately intend to upload the video to youtube, so maybe I just need to leave a set of instructions in a comment for how to change your monitor settings...

If you are on a Windows PC, Movie Maker is not too bad.

D'oh, yes, specifying my OS would have helped, wouldn't it?

I am using XP, though, so I'll give that a try. Thanks.

rotate them through 90 degrees

If you want to be able to see round the sides of buildings and so on, I think you have to have shot it in 3D in the first place...

No personal experience of video editing (yet - need to get the USB video adapter set up to convert some old tapes to DVD) but I usually find the reviews at Gizmo's Freeware very useful.

I use MPEG streamclip (it downloads from our freeview box, is why), which is nice for clipping bits out - not so sure about rotating. But the beta version (on Mac) said something about Youtube compatability. There's a PC version but I don;t know about its features or OS support.
