Wow. A charity single I actually like:

(Won't be to everybody's taste, but hey, it's better than the horrible version of Everybody Hurts.)

It's fun to play spot-the-star in the video, but if you're curious, Wikipedia has a list (search that page for 'Haiti'). Who knew Shane McGowan had such clout?

That rocks, a lot.

Haven't actually heard everybody hurts cover yet. Can only assume this is a good thing.

In fairness to the Everybody Hurts cover, I've only half heard it on the radio at the gym. It sounded a bit like the cut-and-paste everyone-does-a-line version of Perfect Day the BBC did yonks ago. Just bland... and also, quite a weird choice of song, I thought!

Wow!

I wasn't quite sure of it at the beginning, old Shane sure shows what drinking can do to a man, but overall it's fabulous.

Actually listening again, without watching the video, I love it even more. Musically it's brilliant, but what could you expect with that lot involved? And it's fab from the very first note.

Thanks for posting it, I rarely catch the radio these days, and might have missed it completely.

Nah....Not keen. Screachy and pretentious.

I've no idea if it's likely to get radio play - I only knew about it because [livejournal.com profile] papagaak tweeted about it :)

Ooh, that's actually rather good. Nice to hear it with a bit of an edge :)

Not surprised at all. Young Shane's immensely respected, for very good reasons. I believe he's been friends with Cave since sometime in the Eighties - hence their version of What A Wonderful World.

I'm somewhat disturbed that Shane McGowan is looking more and more like my grandmother with her teeth out.
On the other hand, this is actually quite cool; well done Shay.

Hmm, yes, I'd totally forgotten about that cover.

I guess - beyond the obviousnesses - I don't know much about Shane McGowan, and thus mostly think of him as an iracsible and toothless drunkard. Obviously you can be those things as well as a fine songwriter :) Perhaps I should further investigate Mr McGowan.

Which is ironic, because I think Shane McGowan's finally put his back in (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1183171/Oh-bye-gum-Shane-MacGowan-FINALLY-gets-set-new-teeth.html) :)

His holidays with Mr Dickon Edwards make good reading.

That's really rather good - thanks for pointing it out.

Cheers - heard about that when it was being recorded - you've now reminded me to actually buy it!
