The beer I had for breakfast was a bottle of Mad Dog

Last year, several people complained about the lack of observations on here from the redoubtable Pintwatch. No one complained about the lack of general observations and drivel but Pintwatch, it seems, was missed.

The trouble is, of course, that Pintwatch mostly has things to say while in the pub and (normally) away from a computer. Accordingly, Pintwatch has struck off in a bid for independence and can now be found here:

Pintwatch is a single-minded soul, so you are warned not to follow if you don't wish to hear largely about beer. Or pubs. Or, occasionally, the lack of beer. Or pubs.

Pintwatch is also a little unsure of twitter etiquette as yet, so is not following even those of you whose twitter IDs it knows. Advice welcome :)

I'd like to complain about the lack of general observations. Or, at least, to request more of them!

Aww, and I thought I'd been being quite vocal since the new year! I'll try harder :)

That's probably true - I mostly missed them in the second half of last year.

Yeah! You're jollier than I am! You are thereby obliged to update to counter my stuff!

Hot Tip: Most branches of Boots still have CAMRA Christmas gift packs going at half price! They were admittedly a little overpriced to start with, but three (small) bottles of award-winning beers and a pint glass for £7.50 is an appealing proposition.

Ooh, funky, thanks!

From what I see of Twitter etiquette (twetiquette?): follow who you want to, block who you want to, drivel when you want to.

I'm ar_gemlad and I'll be following you - but you don't have to follow back if you don't want to read my drivel ;)

It is occasionally worth bearing in mind that if you follow loads of people and they all decide they hate you and do not follow back then twitter might decide you are clearly a spambot and block you.

But clearly this cannot happen to pintwatch :-)

Indeed. It's also far more common than on other sites to just stop following someone for a day or two if they're being noisy about something you've no interest in, and then adding them back later. There doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much angst about "following policies" as there is about "friending" on other sites.

I did once see someone complain that a trio of their friends were being too noisy, and Abusing the Commons. They were soundly laughed at.

Note that your friend feed doesn't show tweets that your followees make that are in reply to people you don't follow. While much bemoaned when this feature was introduced, it actually seems quite useful now, as there's even less fear of inflicting half a conversation on your followers than there was before.

want to follow, but will probably get homesick.

You can follow me if you like, I don't think there are any rules about it though!
