If the mode of contact is indeed SMS with the details of the person trying to contact you, I'm actually perfectly happy about this. It costs £1 for each contact, which should mitigate against a) people doing it without a very good reason and b) people doing it en masse or repeatedly. Meanwhile, I can ignore anyone I don't want to contact me, but I will know if genuine friends or family members are trying to get hold of me. I'm not going to rush to ensure that I am in their directory, but I don't think I'll remove myself from it if it turns out I'm there, either.
