Did I ever have any credibility ?

At some point, when we were still fresh-faced university students, Samantha and I pooled our record collections and put the silliest songs we could find onto a tape. We called it "The Silly Tape". Then, mercifully, we lost it.

I found it recently, so it got an airing at the weekend. Driving through a very crowded area, very slowly (cos it was crowded), with the windows down (cos it was very warm, and my car's fan doesn't really do cold) I began to regret this.

I didn't mind people knowing I was listening to Faster Pussycat's Big Dictionary. Or even Tigertailz' Murderess. But when it got to Kiss and (When you work all day you've gotta) Uh! All Night I decided it was time to take a stand. I wound up the window.

However, I'm probably the owner of the only compilation in the world which segues from Poison into Blyth Power.

Possibly only because I've never heard of Blyth Power. But I've gone from Metallica to Abba to Les Mis...

Damn. Why am I repeating this?

I should hope not ! Vintage FP and a worth successor to Aerosmith's "Big 10 inch" !

Silly songs I've loved and lost (and would like to locate)

Once, many moons ago, Rob played me a song called "the Lifeboat" by some random comedian. It's about a group of schoolchildren being taught social concience by their teacher using the conundrum:
"You've got a cripple and a grandma and a retard (american song) and a baby and a fat man and a work-age, employed slim good looking young female taxpayer in a lifeboat. It'll sink unless you chuck someone overboard...Who Goes?"
I liked that song , but it's vanished into the ether.
I also remember the "****off, who d'y'think you are? Get out of my ****ing flat" song.
I think mr warlock introduced it to many, it was a one hit wonder, then sank.
Bit like the lifeboat.
Anyone still have a copy?

I do have a tape of the Mindless Drug Hoovers performing Fuck Off. It's an nth-generation copy, so it's very shoddy, buy you're welcome to an (n+1)th generation copy :)

Never heard the song about the lifeboat...
