Every time I go to vote. Every bloody time.

Just on the off-chance anyone else lives in Iffley Fields ward and votes at the Donnington Community Centre: do not follow the sign that says "Donnington Community Centre" to get there. It will not help. If you have inadvertently followed that sign, then turn left at the unsigned T-junction, then turn left up the private-looking footpath which is signed for "Donnington Doorstep".

For preference, however, walk along Donnington Bridge Road until you get to Townsend Square, turn right and when you can see nothing but a scruffy carpark keep walking round to the right and at the point at which you've already found the well-hidden building, you will see a sign saying "Polling Station".

I am writing this down in the hopes that next time I have to vote I will remember and look it up rather than spending ten minutes wandering about haplessly.

The couple dishing out ballot papers seemed vaguely surprised when I asked if in future they could put out more signs - "but there is a sign on the door" - despite admitting that they got really lost at 6:40am and couldn't find the building themselves.

The first two doors I tried at my polling station were locked. There were signs on the side of the building pointing the way, true - but no signs at the front to say 'go round the side'.

I wonder how far they're allowed to go with hiding the polling station before it becomes illegal? Could be quite a sneaky way to rig an election!

Yes. I wonder if you could argue that Green supporters are smarter than average, and that's why our ward always returns a Green candidate with such a huge majority :)

It'd be interesting to know how many people (if any) set out to vote, but fail to actually manage it due to such problems. I presume there aren't many, but you never know.

Maybe it's that bit of Oxford. The one time I voted when I lived near Cowley it took me ages to find the right place, and I'd walked past another polling station to get there...

More like Green supporters are idle slackers with nothing better to do with their time than track down polling stations ;-)

Our pollcards have helpful little maps on. It is really easy to get to from our house, but I still look at the map every time...

Ours used to, though actually they weren't very helpful when you tried to use them - the polling station isn't on any roads as such, which made the map a bit vague.

This year's cards don't have a map, though. They're smaller and flimsier than usual.
