Attention, The Magnetic Fields fans!

There is a new The Magnetic Fields' album coming out. It's called Distortion and according to Stephen Merritt was designed "to sound more like Jesus and Mary Chain than Jesus and Mary Chain".

I'm slightly confused about when it's released in the UK (tomorrow in the US), but it seems that you can order it for the massive sum of £8 on UK Amazon.

It's out today - album releases, AFAICT, tend to be on Mondays in Europe and Tuesdays in the US, presumably for entirely historic reasons.

I actually picked up a promo on Saturday, which was nice, although as I'd scraped it off the evil filesharing networks a week or so back I could already have told you that I'm not disappointed - the Nun's Litany is particularly good.
