I've been looking so long at these pictures of you

Right, I've got five spare minutes. I'll tot up the votes people cast for the photo competition.

<does sums>

<does sums right>

OK...

I asked people to nominate their favourite three photos based on them being good photos, and their favourite three photos based on them being interpretations of the given lyrics.

In the Jolly Nice Photo section, people voted overwhelmingly for [livejournal.com profile] nalsa's pictures - more than half the voters[*] chose his It's windy here and the view's so nice as one of the best photos. [livejournal.com profile] neilh was an honourable runner up, with a number of people voting for his These cities are illusions of some triumph over Nature's laws (my personal favourite).

In the Interpretation of Lyrics section, voters were much more divided in their opinions, with everyone getting at least one vote from someone. I declare [livejournal.com profile] leathellin to be the winner, for getting the most votes overall, and for taking the picture which got more votes than any other, her We don't need no education. The remaining votes were spread reasonably evenly, with [livejournal.com profile] bateleur just poking his head slightly above the rest.

Accordingly, by arbitrary and capricious methods I pronounce that the overall winner is Nalsa, with Leathellin and NeilH doing some fine running-up. If Nalsa and NeilH will remind me of their current addresses, they will receive Mysterious Parcels in the post. Leathellin should bear in mind that I know where she lives and thus she gets a Mysterious Parcel whether she consents or not :)

Thanks to all photographers and voters.

[*] Although admittedly this may not be as statistically significant as it sounds, on account of not that many people voting ;)

<applause>

Thanks for running it all - it was fun ! :-)

on account of not that many people voting

There's probably a psychology thesis in there somewhere. I can just about understand someone not getting round to taking photos, but not getting round to voting takes things to a whole new level of slackness !

I found it really quite difficult to decide between all the photos - as [livejournal.com profile] venta will know, I couldn't just stick to deciding the top 3, I had to put in 'special mentions' as well!

I can imagine more people voting if there were ticky boxes (single transferable ticky box system, anyone?!) but maybe they wouldn't think about it as much.

*laughs*

Thank you for running this. I feel bad about winning something, though, because I kept on putting off voting for my favourites.

I might try to run something like this myself in the next couple of weeks.

Ooooh, yes please!

(And if I don't appear to notice, and you have the time, please come and prod me about it as I'm very poor at reading LJ these days.)

And don't feel bad about winning... voting is an optional part of the exercise :) And they were lovely photos.

Neilh has recently moved, he'll be inviting you to a housewarming party just as soon as he's worked out where he's living now.

Oh dear, you know where I live. When did that happen? :-)
Yay, we got a prize.
