We know where you're coming from and we know the score

A serious request, for once:

Is anyone (female) interested in taking part in a long-term study of the causes of breast cancer ?

The charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer is planning a study of over 100,000 women in the UK; the idea is to survey women about their lifestyles, medical history, family history etc over a period of years, and see if they can track any factors which affect the likelihood of developing breast cancer.

Participating in the survey involves filling in a long questionnaire and giving blood samples every five years, and answering interim checks about your health.

If anyone's interested, drop me an email (venta at livejournal dot com) telling me your name, address and postcode. I'll add you to the list of interested parties when I send my questionnaire back. The charity will contact you with further information before you're required to decide for definite whether you want to take part.

Perhaps I can put this on theladiesloos community, which has about 600 women members?

Sure... though it might be better to send people to the website:

http://www.breakthroughgenerations.org.uk/

and get them to request their own information pack for the survey. I'm not sure I'm equipped to deal with 600 responses, and my form doesn't have that many spaces ;)

Ok I'll do that.

I actually signed up for this ages ago, but then moved house and was ill and came off the Pill (some of these are related) so was barely sure how to answer the "address" questions let alone the ones about how my body normally behaved. And then I'd put it off for so long that avoidance/faff took over & I'd convinced myself I couldn't do anything about it.

I still have the questionnaire & blood-sample-thingies though, somewhere, so if (as your post suggests) it's not too late to take part I will Sort Myself Out forthwith!
