My next door neighbour (born in York, lived there until in her 30s) often says, "I'll go to the foot of our stairs," so I thought it was a Yorkshire expression. She says it in reaction to a) something monumentally daft and usually being done by our local council or b)in response to a statement of the bleedin' obvious.
