Just think of all the things I've done to you

List 5 things you do when alone that relax you completely; then tag 5 people and have them post their five things in their journal.

I appear to have been tagged by [livejournal.com profile] kneeshooter.

I read Kneeshooter's post, and instantly scribbled down a list:

1. Reading
2. Having a bath
3. Spodding - mucking about with AudioForge, Potatoshop, email or on LJ
4. Pilates
5. Just sitting

Then I realised that Kneeshooter had included "cycling" in his list. Now, there are things like that that I might enjoy, but I guess they're not what I think of as "relaxing". To me, relaxing things are quiet things, gentle things to make a counterpoint to running about doing Stuff.

I would say that, in general, I don't get stressed often. I don't much feel the need to "relax". But I am often busy, and I often find that I've been out doing Stuff several nights running, and want a nice quiet evening in to regroup. Which I'd usually describe as wanting some time to "relax". Time to stand and stare, as it were.

I suppose there are quiet forms of activity which I might do by myself - like lurking round with a camera, looking for things to pounce on - which could certainly be thought of as relaxing. But really, that's not what the word means to me. I'm unsure if this means that I'm so terribly tense I can only relax in a very few ways, or so beautifully well-balanced and centred that I rarely stand in need of relaxation.

I should have said "rolling down a hill quite fast so that the worries of the world disappear". Definitely not "cycling uphill on a major trunk road pursued by HGVs.

Hmm. Well, I'll concede a little, but I'm still not convinced!

1. Reading

Good to know you find work relaxing. :)

Yup. When I really want to chill out, I slough a bit. And, I'm certain I'm alone, I indulge in a spot of woking.

I like Pickering. But I have to be careful since I got that injunction.

You got an injunction ? You poor thing. Still, I'm sure that if you put the cream the doctor gave you on it, it'll all clear up soon.

1. Day dream
2. Surfing/mucking with lj
3. Reading
4. Taking a bath by candle light
5. Listening to Music

I Have No Idea Who I Can Tag On LJ, But Here Goes...

1. Bathing (encapsulates conditioning, reading, writing, dozing, zoning out... the bathtub is more of an environment for me than a mere place to get clean)
2. Reading (especially re-reading)
3. Designing RPG towns and their doings ridiculously thoroughly even though I know they'll probably never be used...
4. Cleaning the toilet (sick, but true - see it gleam!)
5. Reading/writing/drawing/preparing work but sat in a café semi people-watching, semi listening to whatever cheesy music is on in the background and at least partially doing what I'm supposed to be doing...

I ought to give Pilates a try. It sounds much nicer than the Nordic Skiiing-Thing which I keep being recommended.

No, I won't come and do your karzy!
