You're right it would be. The symptoms however don't last for a week (usually), don't kill anyone and only include the symptoms caused by the immune reaction not the damage done by the influenza virus.
The Influenza vaccine has one of the shortest list of side effects compared to some vaccines which are given to everyone for example Tetanus and MMR.
