Here's your room and here's your records

Today, I am continuing with the epic work that is trying to get my room in order. As a result, I have nothing interesting to say.

However, I have just discovered that cardomom bisuits and honey go remarkably well together.

I'm also having one of those days of staring in dissatisfaction at my CDs and being unsure what to listen to. If anyone would like to comment and suggest good music-to-tidy-your-room-to, I'd be most grateful and will play it if I have it. I'll rate any suggestions by the amount of progress made during the song/album :)

Blondie is good to clean to. Anything that involves being bouncy and exuberant to good tunes while singing along loudly would do the job, though.

NP: The Very Best of Debbie Harry and Blondie

And my housemate's just gone out so I can turn it up :)

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, a fairly creditable amount of progress made during Blondie. Some washing done/hung on the line, two under-the-bed-boxes partially filled, two existing boxes cleared up, a bunch of stuff moved from the wrong place to the right place and various clothes tried on and marked for keeping or jumbling.

[identity profile] stompyboots.livejournal.com 2004-11-28 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to hear Blondie created progress. What was the overall top cleaning CD?

[identity profile] kissifa.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Anything you can sing loudly to - Alice Cooper generally suits me, Trash,
Brutal Planet, Hey Stoopid - all good.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. I'm very badly provided with Alice Cooper. In fact, very badly provided with anything of that genre at all.

I've got a fair bit of Blondie left yet, but could follow it with, er, Zodiac Mindwarp, Hoodoo Gurus or Magnum if you think any of them make an adequate substitute. Or The Darkness :)

Hmm. Hole identified in CD collection :)

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
NP: Hoodoo Gurus - Ampology

(I think Zodiac Mindwarp would have been my first choice, but I'm currently without a tape player in my room, so can't.)

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
OK progress made during Hoodoo Gurus. More washing put out on the line - though this is mostly window-dressing, since the damn stuff isn't drying, it's just hanging there.

Book collection assessed and a few (not enough :( ) thrown out, lots of borrowed property which should be returned identified, some more floor uncovered and lots of miscellaneous crap removed from the bookshelves.

Also some dancing around the room like a twat was done, but don't tell anyone :)

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
and there was me thinking I was the only Magnum fan still in existance.

Tanzwut isn't too bad to tidy too, as you can't understand the lyrics so just listen to the flow of the music. Which is not bad stompy industrial bagpipes stuff.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe I've ever heard Tanzwut, though [livejournal.com profile] davefish recommends them highly. I mp3'd [livejournal.com profile] snow_leopard's Subway To Sally CD when I accidentally stole it, but the mp3s are at work.

The closes I can manage to stompy German industrial offhand is Rammstein - is that close enough ?

German is the only language I could even vaguely claim to speak (besides English) so I actually waste a lot of time trying to figure out the lyrics :)

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Ah well, I'm not keen on the first album apart from Augen Zu.

I have the live DVD which is great, but as I'm also getting another version of it, I could lend it to people.

I could email you a few of the videos, but I guess if you speak a bit of German you could loose a fair bit of time translating them.

Rammsteins not bad so I guess that could do. Something with a decent stompy beat to it, so you get into the rhythm. If you put Magnum on I guess you#d be more inclined to have a tea break.

NP: Rammstein - Sehnsucht

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, progress made again.

Camera/computer crap cleared off bookshelf and crated. Books scooped off floor and put on newly empty bookshelf. Miscellaneous papers sorted/thrown out.

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Alice cooper is great to watch live aswell. A real showman.

Songs are good too.

[identity profile] kissifa.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Couldn't agree more - standing front row in the Brutal Planet tour was incredible.

Well if a hole has been identified, it obviously needs filling!

Next time I'm down, I shall bring my CDs and together we shall fill your hole in the name of friendship and good music! Rar!

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
we shall fill your hole in the name of friendship

I'm not that kind of girl, y'know ;)

Seriously, though, I wouldn't mind a few recommendations of canonical rawk! albums to provide a bit of coverage in my collection.

I've just noticed that I don't even seem to have Appetite for Destruction on CD. How on earth did that happen ?

[identity profile] bateleur.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
You need a copy of Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation !

(That was a recommendation.)

[identity profile] kissifa.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
You can have mine (if I can find it) I only got it for Rag Doll, St John, and Dude Looks Like a Lady.

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Have you also tried tidying to Screaming Banshee Aircrew?

Lacuna Coil is also a possible, though dunno how tidying to Iron Maiden would go.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
When [livejournal.com profile] davefish, [livejournal.com profile] keris, [livejournal.com profile] casilda, [livejournal.com profile] surje and I had out terribly decadent and sophisticated champagne breakfast at Whitby, it was to the somewhat inappropriate sounds of Screaming Banshee Aircrew.

I wasn't that impressed - i'd really like to have liked them, and indeed probably would have done had the female vocalist not been so heinously out of tune the whole time.

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
She was? I didn't notice. Oh well, sorry for the naff recommendation.

Mind you I like Devlish Presley, and Jacqui's vocals a few people reckon are out of tune.

Lacuna Coil can sing though.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
I thought she was - could have been wrong though. I'd expect to like SBA live, because it's easier to forgive that kind of thing when you haven't had a chance to retake etc.

There will follow a period of faffing while I persuade Firefox to install RealPlayer nicely :)

Music to Tidy To

[identity profile] bateleur.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'd go for Flood (They Might Be Giants) myself.

Upbeat, amusing and everything that tidying is not !

... and also owned only on tape by me :(

Sadly, I think all my TMBG is on tape and I'm temporarily devoid of a tape player in my room.

NP: Shed 7 - Going For Gold

(In response to a suggestion made by telephone).

Apologies to the people on my friends list whom I know to be personally offended by the existence of Shed 7.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-11-27 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, not much progress made during that. However, that may be more to do with pausing for (a late) lunch, and a nasty incident involving an upturned ashtray and an exploding vacuum cleaner. Neither of which can be fairly blamed on Shed 7.
