Audio capture ?

If anyone can give me idiot-proof, fast-followable instructions on how to capture streaming audio that'd be great. Alternatively, if anyone who's sorted it already could grab the next 20 minutes or so of streaming from this French radio station, that'd be great (I'm wanting the live Bloc Party track that's due to happen in about 15 minutes).

I'm very confused looking at the source of that web page, as I really can't work out how the audio is arriving. A guy in the office here thinks it's being done via flash.

Pints offered for any assistance :)

If you've got an SB Live then you should have a input option of "what you hear" in any recorder app. Otherwise you want Total Recorder. The evaluation edition apparently puts noise in the recording every 60 seconds. The uncrippled version costs 12 dollars.

Thanks... that was, unfortunately, just too late for me to try any of it, since the comment arrived just after the thing I wanted to record started :(

However, for future reference - what you do mean by "an SB Live" ?

A "Soundblaster Live!" sound card?

Good grief, I don't answer questions like that!

There's a beige box over there that goes "whirr", I don't interrogate it about its guts :)

Hmmm: scratch that. I've got an SB Live on my machine, and it doesn't have the really rather useful "what you hear" option that I used to have on my ol dhome PC. Looks like your choice in the future is either
- Total Recorder
- an awful lot of messing around with sound card drivers, after finding out which sound card you have to begin with.

Unable to assist, but you may want to watch Later with Jools Holland next week...

Aye, I heard that rumour :)

I'll get it on t'Tivo, anyway. Note that BBC web site doesn't have any detail about next week (ie. 19th)'s show, other than Elton John, Keane & Interpol.

(Yup, they're on there)

Actually, I always want to watch Later..., because it's a damn fine program. I just very, very rarely remember.

try stationripper, works very well if the stream changes its title when the track changes.
