I think that the District Line is trying too hard at this whole "classless society" business. When it starts out in Upminster, you know where you are with it. It's honest, if down-at-heel. Salt of the earth, basically. By the time it gets to Gloucester Road, it's doing it's best to fit into unfamiliar surroundings, then it explodes in all kinds of directions without any clear purpose.

It's basically Pulp, but an underground line.
